The University of South Florida (USF), the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission and Tampa’s Urban Charrette are developing a series of green events for April 2008 under the “Going Green Tampa Bay” umbrella. Activities will occur on the USF campus and in downtown Tampa and will include workshops, lectures, competitions, movies, and an extensive Green Expo. At USF, events will be hosted by the various colleges throughout the Tampa campus under the name “Sustain-A-Bull” and will go from April 7th to April 11th and end with a Green Expo in the USF Sundome on Saturday, April 12th. The Green Expo will showcase vendors, invited speakers, workshops, student poster sessions, and student lead competitions that raise awareness and encourage action towards a more sustainable Tampa Bay. The planning committee expects 150 booths with alternative energy, recycled materials, and green products of all kinds and has an exciting lineup of workshops that will provide tools for people to go green in Tampa Bay. The Expo coincides with the USF Botanical Gardens Spring sale and shuttle service will be provided to transport patrons between the two locations. All events at USF are free and open to the public.
The Urban Charrette is a Tampa based NGO consisting of local design professionals and community leaders who advocate for a design driven metropolis. They will move the activities started on the USF campus to downtown Tampa from April 12th to April April 22nd, Earth Day.
More information will be made available on all of these activities and the central expo on the www.GoingGreenTampaBay.com website.

On 10/29/07 Shannon Bassett (Assistant Professor of Architecture and Urban Design) met with City of Tampa councilwoman Linda Saul-Sena to discuss planning/urban design initiatives for the city and how USF might be involved.
She discussed our initiative at USF with respect to setting up an office of sustainability on campus and our goal of presenting a document with supporting evidence to the provost in the near future per Dean Delcie Durham's advice at requesting one be implemented. Linda Saul-Sena was meeting with President Judy Genshaft the next Saturday and asked for a preliminary package to present to President Genshaft who is her colleague.
Members of the USF Sustainability Partners prepared a package and on 11/16/07 President Judy Genshaft informed the group that she had appointed Mr. Joe Eagan (Facilities Planning) as her representative in regards to USF sustainability.
